Lighting the first candle

Four Sundays before Christmas it is a Swedish
tradition to light the first of the four candles. The first
candle symbolizes the beginning of the Christmas celebration
period according to the church but no matter what you believe,
lighting a candle in these dark times just doesn't need a particular
reason.

I have started getting our flat into Christmas mood and have only
gotten one present left to buy (because I get SO excited and because
I HATE shopping with too many people around).
