The art of fine whining

Today I came across some research about complaining.
The average person complains about 15-30 times per day (oooops....).

The five main reasons for complaining:
- To start a conversation or establish camaraderie
- To avoid taking action by shrinking responsibility
- To brag about their superiority
- To control others
- To pre-excuse bad performance

Obviously reasons number one is "less bad" than the remaining four.
But complaining can be a way to force other people to carry your negative feelings.
You unload your frustration onto others.
After all, it is so much easier to complain than to actually make a change and deal with
what is making you complain.

Links to the articles:

In light of that is it is no wonder if you sometimes feel drained if when surrounded by complainers.
When I read the article I started reflecting on my own behaviour and of the behaviour of people
around me. And for sure it is ok to complain - we all love a good verbal bash at something. But if it
becomes a mantra, a recurring item in your conversation with others it is time to either:

- Make a change
- Upgrade your attitude

After all life will never be perfect (would be so boring if it was). There will be challenges, dark moments and
times when it feels like everyone if on your case. The one thing that is "easy" to change is your attitude.
Hard times dont last forever so dont act like it.

Lots of inspired love

Being alive

Being alive is what makes us rich.
So easy to forget sometimes.

Inspiration

A friend recently ask me to give him some inspiration and it got me
thinking. Living and working in a big city like London sometimes gets
to you. It creeps up on you - the first symptom is a slight irritation, then comes
the snap, then anger and then the worst stage of them all - apathy.... This is
when you need to halt and look around you.

Inspiration come in so many shapes and forms but we are just to wound up
in the hamster wheel to stop and notice them. Like today - I started with an
easy training session and found out that the stunt men for Captain America,
Jason Bourne, Thor and Daniel Craig aka James Bond had trained at my gymhttp://www.cityathletic.co.uk and I
met the chief editor for huge magazine Muscle & Fitness.

Then fab nails at Boomnails
pop up shop in Boxpark, Raw food lunch from Saf, a gorgeous walk in Shoreditch
and finally organic, gluten and wheat free pancakes at Shutterbug. Beauty and
inspiration is all around us.

Have a fun weekend my loves.

Lance

This morning I listened to a podcast about Lance Armstrong, who has been in
the news lately for a doping scandal. He has been stripped of all his medals and is
banned from competing for the rest of his life. But there is no proof, just witnesses.
Witnesses who say that they did take illegal substances and so did Lance.

I nor anyone except for Lance and the people closest to him will ever know the truth.
To me he is still OUTSTANDING. Someone who gets a verdict of 40% survival due
to cancer spreading in his body and fights back like he has done is a true Superhero. Drugs
or no drugs. Someone who believes and acheives. Someone who kicks the big C back and
says "I am going, but not today".

Like the witnesses say: "Everyone did it." Well, if that is the case he did win against his equals.
If everyone did it then they should all go down.

This blogpost goes out to dear friend Rushi who is kicking some of his fears this weekend
and grabbing them by the throat and saying "I will do it".

It is when we stand in front of something big, something scary or something unknown that
we are given the opportunity to excel. How you do it or if is up to you. But like Lance
said:

“This is my body, and I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it; Study it; Tweak it; Listen to it.
Everybody wants to know what I am on.
What am I on? I am on my bike busting my ass six hours a day;
What are YOU on?”

Happy weekend lovelys!
