Being silly and ridiculous

On Tuesday I went to the European Women in Business conference
arranged by Deutsche Bank in London. The theme of this years conference
(2012 is the 11th year that DB arrange this event) was "Tomorrow starts today".

So you probably think (just like I did) "very catchy theme, time for some new
banker b*llshit..."?

That this was not going to be an evening full of fluff occurred to me as soon as
I saw the Katherine Garrett-Cox step up on the stage in tights patterned with the
English crown and started presenting some of the amazing people that were going
to be on stage that evening.

One of the coolest ladies I have ever come across is this lady:
Güler Sabanci who is the chairman and MD of Turkey's leading
industrial and financial conglomerates. She highlighted the difference
between London and Turkey and why she can't stay in this city for too long.
The reason being the negativity and the focus on crises instead of focusing on
growth. What a charisma, what a power lady! And how women need open doors.
Then it is up to us to get in there and to keep an open mind.

After Güler there was the regular panel discussion etc etc and then came the absolute
star - one of my favorite authors Malcolm Glawdwell. Malcom is the man behind
the Tipping Point, Outliers, the Dog and Blink and his lecture on hierarchy vs networks
was mind-blowing.

The lectures were followed by wine and nibbles and chatting with power ladies.
I had hard to sleep that night I was so inspired. I gather so much inspiration and energy
from meeting interesting people. This has given me the spark to potentially launch something
new :) After all there is only so much energy you can give to credit crunches and financial
crisis. Lets focus on the fun stuff.

Lots of love
