Dreams
There are plenty of dreams in Cancun the man said upon our arrival.
Which one is yours? That was not a philosophical question nor a question
about our innermost desires. He asked where to take us in his taxi.
Arriving at the all inclusive strip of hotels packed with people in
search for sun and comfort I felt my spirit sink.
This was not my dream! Hooters, bubba gumps shrimp shack and Starbucks
were just not next to lush palms and never needing beaches.
Arriving at our Dream my spirit rose again and we emerged upon 24
hours of relaxation. Places like this intrigue me. I totally understand
families with small kids who want to have it all within a stone throw - be it
coke, sunscreens or babysitters. But what is that young couple doing here
and the vegan/animal activist doing at a hotel where they keep dolphins (!)
and the remaining guests are twice your age or families.
Writing this I am on a plane bound for Cuba and judging from the luggage
on the airport one of the dreams in Havana is to have access to diapers
and toilet paper and DVD players.....
