Hello My little doves!First day in the office is behind me and a full on, chakalaka season awaits.Travel is going to be the mantra of this year. Europe is going to see a lot of me!My last travel was very fascinating. Beirut is a city with many faces.
From the glittering partyplaces and clubs to the tent city inhabited by Hizbollah,
from the snowy mountains to the sunny beaches, from the peaceful north to the
angry south, militaries with machine-guns to girls in high heels. The first day we arrived we went to a local hip place called Al Fakamanki and had
the most amazing meze and the obligatory apple sheesa. After the long journey all
that was left was to crash and not to set the alarm - sweet sweet luxury!!!
Three kinds of hummus and cheese
The second day we walked around town - seeing everything from the American
University - one of the most renowned schools in the middle east, the
commercial Hamra street and the sea side walk known as the Corniche.
New years after another long sleep we rocked Buddha Bar and celebrated
the birth of 2011. And as you know the day after is never
that exciting and especially not after a nice food poisoning
sentencing us to a day in bed.
Breakfast at Cafe Hamra
If you ever go to Beirut I would sincerely recommend taking a private cab with a driver you fancy and let him take you around. It is not expensive and you get the local personal touch a bus full of tourists will never give you.
So the following two days we were hanging out with our new Omar. He took us to see all the sights whilst telling
us the stories, the views of the locals and taking us to those little gems.
