This city is so amazing when it comes to all the interesting people that you meet all the time.
This reminds so much of my childhood when my familly was travelling a lot and we were so fortunate to see so many parts of the world and different cultures.
Friday evening was spent as a plus one at a military attache dinner.
It was such a lovely evening where different countries got
together to discuss politics, relations
but most of all to enjoy each others company.
To inject some new blood into the
group, the financiers (my plus one and his friend) were invited and I truly
enjoyed myself.
Being invited to peoples homes where they
offer you everything they have
and would do anything just to make you happy is such a beautiful thing.
Watching our hostcouple from Eastern Europe, and how they after probably
30 years of mariage still love each other so touched me profoundly and I hope that
in 30 years someone will look at me like the husband looked as his wife.
He told me such a beautiful story about how he and his wife got separated
on a train many years ago. Since he had the ticket she was thrown of the train and
he continued until the final destination.
Once he tracked her down - somewhere in Italy - she couldnt get to
him cause she didnt have any money to pay for a new ticket.
So they solved it by transporting her as a parcel to him.
A parcel of love as he called it.
That would be such a good story for a movie.
Before and after dinner we went to Churchill Bar at the Hyatt hotel and I have a
new favourite cocktail - Pimm's Royale. Pimm's with champagne.
Pimm's is most common in Britain and it is one of the two staple drinks at
Wimbledon, the Henley Royal Regatta, and the Glyndebourne opera festival,
the other being Champagne. A "Pimm's Cup" is also the standard cocktail at
British and American polo matches.
My gorgeous friend Helen made my hair for the evning and I went with the
Swedish flower girl look vs German Heidi :)
Peace love and postage :)
