Lovely weekend

The weekend has started off in a lovely way.
Yesterday I had dinner at French Almeida just around the
corner with fab fab friend S and then home to browse through
a couple of movies and chill.

Today a 5k morning run, a walk around town and then amazing Austrian
breakfast at Kipferl. Tonight I will be trying out a new meat place
in the neighborhood called meat people.

So it is January and if I can have a guess I would say that this is
peak month for starting diets. I dont believe in diets. I believe
in having a good lifestyle and being happy with with your choices -
whether you chose low carb, high carb or what ever it is.
As long as you are happy with your choices and your body stick to

They say that time goes fast when you are having fun but I have to
say that in a way I do not agree. Those lovely moments last a lifetime
because they will make you smile for a long time afterwards and they will
always be beautiful memories in your heart.

This weekend has been utter bliss! I have been spoilt to the max by dear
dear M and C and my heart is filled to the brim with all the love and
attention I have received this weekend. And also I have received two
gorgeous gifts from someone very special (pics to come). I am so fortunate
and grateful for the amazing people I have in my life.

When writing this I am actually somewhere over sweden on board a Norwegian
flight bound for London Gatwick. I wish that more airlines could get the value
of having wifi on board!

Now they are coming along with the food trolley and I think I will indulge in
some hot cocoa. Hope your weekend has been amazing!!!

Cirque du Soleil were absolutely amazing. First we meet up with
some fab ladies getting all psyched about the show and then the
explosion of color, creativity and grace started. If you ever get the
chance go and see them!

Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian troup of artists who perform different
shows around the world. Their shows are charachterized by a
acrobatics, dance, fantasy and daring moves.

I did sleep a couple of inches above my bed tonight, I was
so psyched. And cant wait to get back on the acrobatics track to
start practicing :)

Tonight I am on for a nice dinner at Indian place called Roti
Chai and Friday I am off to Switzerland for a gorgeous long
weekend of baby sitting. Well they are not babies anymore
but in my heart they will always be!

After a couple of full on days I had a lovely
lazy Sunday. Slept until 1030. Had a shower and went back to
bed for a while with a big cup of coffee.

A nice lazy breakfast - omelette and eggs
and tea. Strolled around my neighbourhood and did a little
planning for Cuba and Mexico. I love the full on days
so I relish in the chilla gorilla mode :)

I love Saturdays. Especially when you wake up early
and it feels like you have an eternity in front of you.
This morning I did my first run with my new iPod Nano
and the Nike Run kit. The run sucked (too tired and heavy
after a few hard sessions this week and not feeling too great
at the beginning of the week) but being able to see exactly
how I perform during my run and how fast I am going added
an extra element of excitement. After I headed home for some
breakfast and then it was Garuda time.

The class was headed by lovely Anna who also trains Donna Karan
and Paul McCartney and we agreed to get together for
some acrobatics fun soon. I just can't wait. We did a few quite
basic exercises today and I can feel my body longing for
playing.

All lovely and blissful I met up with darling S and we
visited the book palace Foyles in Soho. There isnt a book
that they don't have and I ended up with quite a stack.
The whole place is full of interesting characters and they
have a cozy cafe that serves the most amazing coffee.

After we headed for a Tex-Mex feeding frenzy and I had
the gorgeous chicken and pork salad with too much jalapeños

Surprise surprise

Yesterday was a big big day.
Someone very dear has his birthday on the 31st of December and he never
really celebrates it. So this year I decided that he should be celebrated
to the moon and back. A cunning plan where a surprise party with loads of nibbles
and a rented bartender in the flat were masked as a trip to the theatre.
I took half the day off work to cook and arrange everything and with a
little help from my friends we pulled of an amazing party.

There were drinks renamed after the birthday boy - ever heard of the
Sanjarita or the Dry Sunnytini - and loads of food. A friend who is the
most amazing chef brought his homemade chocolate cake and it
was all just fab.

Today I think everyone is a bit hungover, a bit tired, I have a bruised
head but I am sure there are quite a few smiles out there.
Tonight will be spent cleaning up the rest of the mess and
then maybe a movie.

On Wednesday we finally left for Switzerland and I am not the most productive person right now and it feels SO nice just to be!
There is hardly any snow but the air is so fresh and we are all just hanging out and nearing loads of nice food and drinking good wines. This is my holiday and my refuge.
Unfortunately it seems like a bad cold followed me here but I hope to kick its ass now
with a good nights sleep.

This Christmas has been lovely.
I have had a truly great time with my family
and loved ones. But also it has been very frustrating
because I have been so sad - a sadness I haven't felt in
my heart for a very long time. A longing for my parents
and the reminder that they are not as close as they used
to be. It has been as if tears I have tucked away
for several months all of a sudden had to come out.

And they did. And it actually felt good.
I feel cleansed and lighter.
I have let out some of the old and made room
for the new.

Interestingly enough a piece of porcelain today
symbolizing a tear broke. I have cried enough for
this year. Lets have some fun!

We have passed the darkest time of theyear and now light
awaits us. I have had two superfab evenings and tonight
I know I have another one coming up, at least for the
first part of it. After all the best things in life are
good friends and training.

Asia de Cuba and W hotel were amazing. A bit on the pricy
side but LOVELY. The food, the service, the cocktails all
exceeded my expectations by far.

Yesterday I had a lovely massage and somehow it tipped me
over the edge to realise that VACATION is just around the
corner. Bliss, relaxation and rebooting here I come.

What a session!
Hardcore work on legs, arms, abs and
back. In an hour we covered rope skipping,
Sumo dead lift, kettlebell clean, clean and jerk
technique, olympic ring push ups, jumping lunges
and running. My legs are killing but I feel so happy
and grateful to be strong and to be able to train like this.

My cake is in the oven - gingerbread cheesecake.
Now it is time to wrap my Christmas presents and then
I am off to the dinner party tonight.

The year is coming to an end and the last year I have been fighting,
pushing and working bhard towards my goals. Now I have a MASSIVE
need for some glamour and what I call Hollywood. Hollywood moments
to me are when the world is shiny, bright and a bit luxurious.
On Tuesday I will have my final taining and development
assessment for the year. I will post and tell you
all about the results. My countdown clock says 128 hours to go.
128 hours until the finish line. And not finishing as the best is
not an option.

The magic of movement

The Degas exhibition was AMAZING!
It was a tribute to movement and to the love of ballet.
I absolutely adored it and going late on a Saturday evening
when it is all dark outside and the lights of the Christmas decorations
twinkle in all their glamour. And going by myself was ok. Even
though it so much lovelier to share it with someone I wouldn't
have missed it for the world.

The birthday drinks at the Sanderson were really great and
me and two other lovely Swedish blondes managed
to kick off some quite cool posing in the lobby (the
receptionist didn't look too happy though ;) ).

Today I made another batch of Swedish gingerbread and then met
up with my sweet old colleagues M and P at Scandinavian Kitchen.
I started off with traditional Swedish butter milk and then a Swedish
christmas plate - meat balls, smoked salmon, mini frankfurters,
shrimp and eggs, beetroot salad, mustard pickled herring, christmas cheese and
christmas ham with mustard. Mmmmmmm!!!! Love every
minute of it. Brought home loads of goodies but might have to
go back next weekend again. And love how they say hugs and kisses
to me every time I am there. Kitchen folks you rock!

This week ahead will be full on training-wise and on the social side.

Tonight I am off to see Edgar Degas' exhibition at
the Royal Academy of Arts. I love his paintings -
and a lot of it has probably to do with that I love ballet
and dance. Afterwards I am heading for birthday drinks
at ab fab the Sanderson with some gorgeous girls and
boys.

Today has been a soft day - a 2hr walk, sun sine and
a coffee with my gorgeous friend S. I got a fab Xmas book
I will enjoy during my days off.

Yesterday was a shattering day.
Some days just suck you up and tumble you around and
when you get out your legs are just a little bit shaky.

After a crazy morning I had a nice Christmas lunch
with work and then headed back to the office to help
with our charity project called Shoebox.

The project is about collecting food, clothing, accessories
and other little nice things to put in 80 shoeboxes that will be
handed out to the elderly and lonely on Christmas eve. I think
it is a kick ass project and will try to get some more done today.

The second week of morning runs is almost over and my body
and legs are starting to adapt big time and the runs are getting
longer and faster. Running is amazing and I am falling back in love
with it. It is free. It is good for the heart. It clears the mind.
It calms and centers. It takes my mornings from good to great!

This list will change depending on where we are in life.
People who are close to the end of this life most of all
regret not spending more time with people they love or doing
the things they love.

Kapow! Boom! Crack! Dishoom?

Three weeks to go until Christmas and I am training
really really hard. I do love the abillity to move and
train and just feel priviledged with the gift of my body
and having so many inspiring people around me I learn
from every day. This week I have been doing:

Four morning runs
Two leg sessions
2 plain cardio sessions mixed with dynamic stretch
One upper body session (one left this afternoon)

My cold is finally getting better and on my agenda for
this weekend is SLEEPING and EATING. I have also
planned for a massive baking frenzy tomorrow and a lovely
Indian Bombay Cafe style dinner tomorrow at Dishoom.
I am looking forward to loads of lovely warming spices and
catching up with an old friend from Luxemburg. Baileys chai,
chaijitos, bollybellinis, bombay coladas, rose and
cardamom lassi here I come :)

Why is it called Dishoom? You know in old style fighting movies
everytime someone hits another person and there is usually
a sound effect... If you say Dishoom quickly enough you will
get it :)

Krav Maga

I just signed up for a Krav Maga self defense course for women
so during two Sundays I will learn how to defend myself agains
attacks with or without weapons. I am not an advocate of violence
and no, I am not ultra scared when I go on my morning runs and the streets
are deserted.

But sometimes there is that little feeling of being a bit
uncomfortable or a little uneasy. Also I think it is important to try
new ways of training and exploring all types of sports you like.
If your training becomes to monotone there is a risk of injury or
wear down of the joints.

From talking to some guys at work Krav Maga is known to be very
violent and aggressive. But it is a defense technique and I think if
someone attacks another person they should be
prepared to face some kind of resistance.

What have you guys heard of Krav Maga? What do you think of
womens self defense classes?

I am trying out a new diet right now and it is really getting to me.
Previous diet was just getting me eating right and a lot more and the results
have been amazing. The new thing I am trying out is called carbcycling meaning
you have high carb and super low carb days to get your body into burning a bit
more fat.

On high carb days everything is great and I feel strong and motivated
but the low carb days are a real challenge especially since those days
a morning run is added before breakfast.

But it is just for three weeks and I will tell you all about the results when
I am done with my trial. The cool thing is that we can do whatever we
want in our lives and the only thing that limits us is our minds. And my
mind is playing some real tricks on me right now but I have decided
that I will JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

candle symbolizes the beginning of the Christmas celebration
period according to the church but no matter what you believe,
lighting a candle in these dark times just doesn't need a particular
reason. On each of the following Sundays another candle
is lit and on Christmas eve you should end up with four
glowing candles if you got it right ;)

I have started getting our flat into Christmas mood and have only
gotten one present left to buy (because I get SO excited and because
I HATE shopping with too many people around).

My mum was the strongest advocate of "kill them with
kindness". She was super nice and hardly ever lost her
temper or behaved badly against anyone. Anyone but
herself. As much as I think it is good to be in control
of your feelings and not being a rage freak, I also think it
is good to let out some steam now and then.
(and by that I mean speaking your mind or getting rid of
the rage in for instance the gym and nothing else ;))

Casual Friday

Happiness on a Friday morning is to put on my brand new
Acne Flex basement Jeans (same size I was wearing when I
was 20 years old!!!!!!!). And I had to wear them to work
so thank you for casual Fridays although I know I am bending
the rules a bit by wearing these.

Thursday evening was date night and we met up at Nike town
and I got a new lovely silver hyper warm sweater for running (also
HAD to wear it in the gym today) and a gorgeous wind runner.
Unfortunately the clumpsy sales clerk put some ink on it so I
will go back on Tuesday to return it for a new one (pics to follow).

Afterwards we were supposed to have dinner at newly opened
meatliquor for a burger but the queue was far too long so we headed
back to our hood and good old favourite Byron.
My new all time favorite next to the skinny burger is the Oreo cookie
milkshake with added malt. Love love loved it!

It if Friday and time to let the week go.

Fredrik Paulún

Fredrik Paulún is one of the foremost low carb gurus in
Sweden. When I look for inspiration on something healthy
but yummie and NUTRITIOUS to cook I go to his
webb page. Unfortunately it is only in Swedish....

Yesterday I cooked a half vegetarian version of his Taco
Frittata. Unfortunately it is not possible to make a frittata
without eggs but I used quorn instead of meat.

So here it goes:

150-300 g ready made taco mince (below is yummie quorn)
5 cherry tomatoes chopped
1-2 peppers chopped
1 red onion chopped
3-4 eggs whisked with salt, pepper and chili if you like some heat
I also added a little bit of milk with the eggs

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees celsius.
Fry the veg and add the mince.
Put in a mold and pour the egg mix on top.
You can add a little bit on cheese on top.
Then put in the oven for about 15 minutes.
Nutritious heaven on a plate.

More supadupa lovely please

When it comes to this time of the year I always try to
reach some kind of closure. What have I learnt during the last
year, what do I want to improve in the next year and what was
supadupa lovely (and make sure I make room for lots of that).

This year I have learned lots, started a new job, moved, travelled
the world and broadened my horizons. I have made a big training
comeback and will not need surgery for my knees. I have made new
lovely friends and come to closure with some of the old.

I have also decided that from certain events I have had enough.
Out with the bad and in with the supadupa lovely.
(and please let me kick out this bad flu too)

Stockholm in my heart

Well on to Stockholm - sensitive readers please stop
reading. There are some serious pieces of meat to follow.

Stockholm where was I..... Friday evening I met up with
some of my favorite darlings. First coffee then amazing dinner
followed by drinks and good laughter. I am so privileged to have
you guys in my life.

Allmänna Galleriet is a buzzy vibrant place and the food (mostly
meat) is AMAZING. It feels like a butchers, meets your grans,
meets a hip bar. Love love loved it!!!!

On Saturday morning after two hotel breakfasts - pre and post training -
I headed out to dear M and J to watch their gorgeous little gem get
christened. I had such a lovely time and it is so nice to be with people
who just embrace you into their families. I feel deeply touched and warm and
fuzzy on the inside.

Every time I am in Stockholm I squeeze in at least two visits at Blueberry.

I am still exhausted so will crawl further down under the blankets

I just came home from the most amazing weekend
in Stockholm. Unfortunately in my luggage, along with the
salty licorice I also had a bad bad flu and I am lying in the sofa
now in quite a state. I haven't been this sick for a long long while.
This is why I will only post a few photos of last Thursday's supa
dupa amazing meal I was treated to.

Dinings in Marylebone is one of the most AMAZING Japanese
restaurants I have ever been to - Tokyo included.

So in the lack of ability to write, yet think anything constructive
